What is VBOXADD.SERVICE . . ?

vboxadd.service belongs to Oracle's VirtualBox software. It is part of the guest additions.

It seems strange to me that it runs on your Ubuntu system, which (as far as I can remember from some of your other questions) is the host system and not the guest.

Do you have the Ubuntu-provided version installed, or the one from Oracle's VirtualBox web pages?

For diagnostic purposes, what is the output of the following commands:

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
VBoxManage --version
dpkg -l | grep -i virtualbox

I used the one from Virtual Box to Install it as it is up to date and does more than the one in the Ubuntu Software . . And I down load the guest additions ISO and burn to a CD an Install from there plus install the Extension pack directly from Virtual Box
How do I stop the Vboxadd.service from trying to run as it eats up 3 minutes of boot time

Did you install the VirtualBox guest additions your Ubuntu host system (from the CD that you have created)?
This is nonsense, because the guest additions are needed on the guest (which I understand is a Windows system) and not on the host.
This explains why you did not find the guest additions installer on the host.

You should uninstall the guest additions from your __host__ system.

AHUMM please read the afore answer it says I installed it in WINDOWS inside of Virtual Box . .Can't install the Guest Additions in Linux as it is not inside of Virtual Box . . After years of using Virtual Box i know that . . So How do I get the Vboxadd.service out of the Start up Boot ? As it uses 3 minutes to boot . . If you have vboxadd.service running on your host system (the Ubuntu system), then somebody must have installed the guest additions on your host system.

Ubuntu is the MAIN O/S Not windows and I Installed Virtual Box on Ubuntu to add Windows inside of it to run Sketchup Make 2016 32 bit in windows 7-1 32 bit

Do you have a file system presented to the VM as a disk, like a USB drive which gets pulled into Virtualbox for Windows to see?

I also suggest you post on the Virtualbox forum. It may help as well.

As you can see from your output, your Ubuntu system tries to start vboxadd.service, and it fails, taking one and a half minutes.

If I look at some of your other questions, e.g. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/681229 then I assume that by error you mounted the CD with the guest additions ISO file on your Ubuntu system and installed the guest additions on your host.

I am very sure that the solution for the boot delay caused by vboxadd.service can be solved by uninstalling the guest additions from your Ubuntu host system.

I did it from inside of Windows inside of Virtual Box . . So how did i get it in to Ubuntu ? and how do I uninstall it from Ubuntu ?

Oh yeah that 1 minute is a lie being told by the O/S . . The timer App ( On my cell hone ) says it is well over 3 minutes of time used just to Boot to log in screen

Please read what I rote above. I did not claim that the boot time is one and a half minutes. I wrote that the attempt to start the VirtualBox guest additions on your host system might be responsible doe a delay up to one and a half minutes.

The installation of the guest additions must have happened quite a while ago, because the file name quoted in your output points to version 6.0.0_RC1 which was released in December 2018.

How to uninstall?
According to a google search (already adapted to your case):

sudo /opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-6.0.0_RC1/uninstall.sh

Something is wrong with that . . Got this for trying to remove it . .

Like I have said several times . .Something in the UPDATES was trying to install Guest Additions for months now and never got it installed But something got installed some place else . . and so it tries to start the Vboxadd.service thing . . Would take hours t o remove Virtual box and re install due to windows 7-1 and all the updates I saved to re install them some day . . Now after 7-1 day of expires it would be Now . .Must be a 1 minute plus per try of adding the vboxadd.service to where it thinks virtual box is installed at . . Guess i got to go looking for where it got installed at and then change the removal instructions to fit the condition

My understanding was that you have installed the VirtualBox version from the VirtualBox.org web pages, and not the packaged version from the Ubuntu repositories. So, why should the Ubuntu package updater do anything with that (from Ubuntu's viewpoint) "foreign" software?

See it was not me who added the files and the Vboxdrv has hit the news again I see . . Module auto login ? and way back in 2017 . . About the time I started having problems with Vbox.drv missing or moved from where Virtual Box put it when things got first installed ! ! . . So this has been building and building . . and finally got me to pay attention . .

It is not clear to me how you can conclude form a file creation date who initiated the wrong installation.

Apparently the installed version of the guest additions does not have an uninstaller script.
I want to suggest that you try uninstalling the old version of the gust additions with the installer of the new one (sounds ab bit strange, I know).

sudo mkdir /mount/iso
sudo mount -o loop /usr/share/virtualbox/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso /media/iso
cd /media/iso
sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run uninstall
cd ~
sudo umount /media/iso
sudo rmdir /media/iso

Please copy/paste all output that we can see the results.

Seems I am missing the Command "mount" as I did a test did sudo mount/iso . . Said no such command . .
And went back to your suggestion and got this
