Ubuntu 19.10 Screen remains blank after wake up from suspend

Asked by Gert Kruger

I have Ubuntu 19.10 installed on a Dell Vostro 3670 (Intel® Core™ i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz × 12 ). The system has a Nvidia video card (NVIDIA Corporation GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050]) and the Nvidia 435.21 driver is installed. Bios version is 2.13.0.

Additional drivers: NVIDIA Corporation: GP107 {GeForce GTX 1050]. Using NVIDIA driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-435.

After the Screen is suspended, it will in many cases not produce the login prompt when you want to wake up the computer. I found a potential solution at https://askubuntu.com/questions/1204846/ubuntu-19-10-screen-remains-blank-after-wake-up-from-suspend?noredirect=1#comment2024703_1204846 but it does not work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! Gert Kruger

If you press CTRL + ALT + F1, do you see a text login? If so, if you press CTRL + ALT + F7 do you get the desktop back?

Thanks for the reply. No, sometimes I can get to the Terminal and then reboot. I was given a solution that seems to word so far - see https://askubuntu.com/questions/1204846/ubuntu-19-10-screen-remains-blank-after-wake-up-from-suspend?noredirect=1#comment2024848_1204846
