How to change filesystem from ext 3 to ext4?

Hi,

Issue-1(ext3- ext4)
I have upgarded to ubuntu 9.04 from 8.10.
But my file system remain the same - ext 3.
So please help me out how to change to ext 4.

Issue-2(update manager)
when i navigate to update manager, i see an Distribution update for brasero which is always disabled.
This is happening just after i upgraded to 9.04.

Issue-3(boot error)
When i start my machine,I'll always get an error in the boot screen.

issue4(Lock screen)

When i had ubuntu 8.10, i had a feature called lock screen under system but when i upgraded to 9.04 i dont see that feature.

It is much easier to answer one question at a time, in order to keep
track. In the future please split your questions up so you can mark each
of them them as solved when they are solved.

1. Look at

for an overview of the process, I have checked it over and it seems
legitimate.

2. Try updating brasero using Synaptic rather than the update manager.
It is possible it will do it, or tell you why it cannot.

3. Please provide more information on your error. What does it say?

4. The lock screen option is now in the upper right of the screen, where
your name is located. Click it and the menu opens, which also includes
the Standby, Shut Down, Reboot etc.

Please go in your bios and see if you can disable APIC in there.

If not, try following the steps in this post from the Ubuntu Forums, and see if it stops:
