xubuntu 18.04 intermittent wifi disconnections

Asked by Karel P Coors

Xubuntu 18.04 suffers from intermittent wifi disconnect. System reconnects after a little pause. Was same in 16.04. Have searched web for solutions but find none that works. IPv6 settings at "Ignore"

Is the system a laptop? If so what is it's make and model and have you used a wired connection to get fully updated?

Does this make the connection more stable:

echo "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf > /dev/null
sudo modprobe -rfv ath9k
sudo modprobe -v ath9k

System is Lenovo S10-3 Xubuntu 18.04 downloaded from a laptop (not from Lenovo S10-3) to CD and uploaded to Lenovo S10-3 from CD
Just followed your advice re the 3 lines for Terminal. See how this goes
