Cannot "try" or "install" Ubuntu 18.4 on a Lenovo K450e

Asked by Jay Opperman

I used Rufus to build a bootable USB with Ubuntu 18.04, when I turn on the computer I get a "Couldn't get size: 0x800000000000000e" error, then a series of ata4.00 status: { DRDY ERR } error messages, Failed command: READ DMA and it drops into BusyBox V1.27.2. and an {initramds} prompt. All I read says this should work with and Intel 64 core i5 architecture. Any help is appreciated.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
If you run a chkdsk on the file system is it healthy?
Have you tried other ISO writers?
