mysql-workbench 8.0.17 cannot be opened in Ubuntu 20.04

Asked by Xiaoqi Zhao

Now MySQL-workbench 8.0.17 is included in Software Center (using 20.04), it's able to be installed without error, and the status is showed [Installed].

But when choose the icon, nothing happened and not able to open.

When trying to run in Terminal with

~$ sudo mysql-workbench

[sudo] password for [myid]:

Found /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libproj.so.15 /usr/bin/mysql-workbench-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mysql-workbench/libwbprivate.so.8.0.18: undefined symbol: _ZN7pcrecpp2RE4InitEPKcPKNS_10RE_OptionsE

Does anyone can help?

I suggest you report a bug. Ubuntu 20.04 is not ready and not stable.

If you want a system that will work as expected then I suggest you wipe the install off and do a clean install of Bionic (Ubuntu 18.04).

If you want to report bugs to get the OS ready for release in April then by all means use Focal but it will not be a smooth ride up to and even a few weeks after release.

Can you help with this problem?
