Jaunty Jackalope's compiz (under the Normal setting) struggles!

Asked by Senthil

I don't know whether its my hardware (Lenovo Y500) which is creating the problem. I upgraded to jaunty and I find compiz struggling to make all the window transitions, workspace switching, maximization etc., Is this a bug or ?

Could anyone help?

Thanks!

Hi Sam! Thank you for your kind response. The output of the lspci | grep VGA is as follows:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Looking forward to solving this problem!

Compiz and Intel have problems in Jaunty. You will need to disable compi until it is resolved.

Oh!!! I also realize this from the references which Sam has given above! Could you share with us, why this problem is created only with select processors, exactly?

Thank you very much, anyway!

Hi,
I have a similar problem: windows maximization is not smooth, it seems like compiz takes a "photo" of the window just before maximizing, I tried playing with compiz settings and... nothing to do.
I know for sure it is a compiz problem because disabling it windows behave normally.

this is the output of lspci | grep VGA for my laptop:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series

My system is Jaunty amd64 on a Toshiba Satellite A300D laptop

Someone could help me?
Thanks in advance
