can not detect modem on ubuntu 9.04

i used ubuntu 8.10 before i using ubuntu 9.10
after iam using ubuntu 9.10
it can not detect my modem

when i using ubuntu 8.10 i set my connection by this way
type ( sudo pppoeconf ) on terminal
but i can not use this way on ubuntu 9.04

what is the problem?
can i know how to fic this problem?

What modem is it? How is it connected?

If its USB can you please provide the output of:

lsusb

if not please provide the output of:

lspci

If it's PCI winmodem there are some problems, but it can be solved. So, what modem is it?

$ lspci

i don't know whether it is Isusb or Ispci !

i think my modem is ADSL type , it connect with telephone port !

have the system connected as you expect and in terminal type

lsusb; lspci

those are said ELL ESS OO ESS BEE and ELL ESS PEE SEE EYE
