How to remove previous ubuntu distribution?

Asked by shailesh

I have installed 8.10 when it released and then updated the kernel but i didn't remove previous kernel.
And when 9.04 beta released i have also installed that.
So grub loads 9.04 beta as well as 8.10 but i am unable to open to 8.10.
Now i want to remove 8.10.How can i?
I have searched linux-image in synaptic package manager but couldn't found previous kernel and distribution.

First, look up which kernel version you are using. Do this by opening a terminal and entering "uname -r".

Now, open system->system management->synaptic package manager. Search for "linux-image". Several lines appear, some with a green button. Go to every line with a green button and starting with "linux-image-2." If the following number does _not_ match your current kernel (see above), right-click on it and choose "remove"
