Certificate status and identity

Asked by peter ratcliffe

Clicking on Mozilla to access my emails brings up a screen which says;

You are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site
Server location mail.fireflyuk.net:143
Certificate status
This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information
Unknown identity
The certificate is not trusted because it hasn't been verified.

I have tried to copy both this screen and the View, but without success

I've been using fireflyuk .net for many years and have not changed anything. I do recall asking Firefly about a certificate in the past but they simply confirmed1 compliance with the rules. Do I need to worry?

With kind regards from Peter Ratcliffe

The cert on https://mail.fireflyuk.net is valid until 2020

Do you use a proxy for web / email access?

Thanks

No, I don't use a proxy. I access email by clicking on Thunderbird and internet via Firefox, and I have not seen any abnormal activity other than the error message which promoted this question.

Thanks for your help, Peter Ratcliffe

For me this problems looks as if you have configured your thunderbird client in a wrong way.

I suggest that you try contacting fireflyuk and ask them what the settings for thunderbird with their e-mail system should be, and re-configure your thunderbird client accordingly.
