Asked by Lynne Stevens

For the last Few Versions of Ubuntu they have a problem with UP GRADES . .As It deletes the Vbox.drv from the EUFI boot sector and I have to run UN-SECURE boot to run Virtual Box . . Did they fix this in 19.10 YET ! . . This is going forward from 18.04 when I started using Sketchup 2016 for making parts for my 3D printer . . ( windows inside of Virtual Box )

Why do you want secure boot for Ubuntu?

Secure boot is a security standard developed by members of the PC industry to help make sure that a device boots using only software that is trusted by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

There is no OEM. The system is a virtual machine......

In case that you really insist to have secure boot and module signature checking enabled, then you might try following https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/11577#comment:30

And a general question: Whom do you name "they" in your question text? The Ubuntu packagers of VirtualBox, or the Oracle developers of VirtualBox, or the UEFI Forum?

And comments:
There is no Vbox.drv, but a vboxdrv.ko driver module
There is no EUFI boot sector. You are confusing the EFI firmware storage area and the hard disks' boot sectors. vboxdrv.ko ist stored in none of them.

The Up date says it installs a what ever to the UEFI AREA And the Up Dates to all of the Ubuntu Versions since 1804 had removed the Vboxdrv.part of Virtual Box EVERY time since 18.04 . . did not know there was a form for that problem . . And the number of times I have done that sudo /sbin/vboxconfig is more than I have fingers . ( comes up on a screen saying do this to fix it ) .But will try it one last time ! . . The Ubuntu version of Virtual Box has several problems that the one from Oracle does not have . . so I have used theirs for long time
And the proverable THEY is the Unknown persons who did what ever to the Up dates of fixes and remains un known as to names . .I am guessing it is one of you people here listed along the side of this screen . . The fingers got out of step and got the U in wrong spot of the UEfI boot sector ( in Gpart. It gets listed as BOOT Sector ) been there a lot and tried to delete it and run the computer with out the windows UEFI sector . . and CMOS adds it back in . . Wish I could use a desk top to wander around with and remove that problem for ever !

What you write is contradictory.

You want to have secure boot enabled, but at the same time you want to delete the EFI boot partition (partition, not sector), which is required for secure boot in UEFI to work.

And another general remark:
If the VirtualBox version that you use is from oracle's web pages, why do you then complain on the Ubuntu question pages about it?

Can you help with this problem?
