KVM switch does not work with 19.10

Asked by Cecil Buckmeier

I installed 19.10 on my computer which is connected to a KVM switch. The keyboard and mouse no longer work. They worked just fine with 19.04. What am I missing? I don't get any error messages or other indication of a problem....they just don't work.
Thank you.

Do you see a lazer and num lock light on the keyboard after the switch?

Is it a physical switch?

The computer I have has 2 SSDs. One has Linux Mint 19.2 and I loaded 19.10 on the other. I had 19.04 and the update failed so I ended up starting from scratch and reloading everything including Mint. Prior to the failed update everything worked as it should. Now Mint works with the KVM but 19.10 does not.

The switch is a manual switch where you select the computer you want to use.

The computer has a UEFI BIOS.

The KVM does not work when you boot into live with the 19.10 DVD...I had to connect a local keyboard/mouse to install 19.10. The video works as one would expect.

This is a learning machine for me so I can erase, re-install or whatever.

Thank you very much for responding.

Cecil

This problem is beyond me. I booted and reloaded 19.04 and everything works as it should. I guess 19.10 is not ready for prime time....at least not in my environment...and I think the problem is beyond me.

Thank you for responding.
