data security

Asked by peter ratcliffe

My computer needs some workshop time with hard discs remaining in place. It there a program to isolate the data so that everything is accessible except for two files?
The way to get into Launchpad seems to have changed. I used to click on "ask a question" which took all the old questions off the screen. Have I missed something or has there been a change?

Thanks from Peter Ratcliffe

If you are handing over your computer system to a technician, then there is no way to prevent them from accessing all files on the hard disk(s). The only way to prevent reading certain files is offloading these files to another storage medium (USB stick, external disk ...) and deleting them from the hard disk in your system.

And sorry, I do not understand your remark about accessing Launchpad.
