2 screens connected to the laptop via the same USB-C adapter are one screen in the configuration

Asked by nadav shabtai

I have 2 screens connected to USB-C adapter (and I also use my laptop screen so there are 3 displays).
This setup works in windows and I can extend the main screen with additional 2 screens. But in Ubuntu, the additional screens are mirrored and in the settings/xrandr they appear as single screen only.

The things I tried:

- Because the additional 2 screens are identical, I tried connecting my TV with one of the screens, and it didn't help.
- In the adapter there are 2 HDMI outputs and one VGA, I tried all of the combinations, and it didn't help either.
- Another laptop to see if the laptop is the problem and it didn't work on it too (my work laptop, and at my work I have USB-C Docking station that works with 2 additional displays on linux).
- Switching adapter.
- Installing DisplayLink driver (I don't know if I have DisplayLink hw, so it was blind test)

The other screen is detected if it's connected to 2 separate adapters and USB-C inputs.

This is xrandr output with XORG:
