web browser will not load

Asked by Jill mini 9

Hi, I had a couple of questions running and fixed that problem,

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/68369

and

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/68263

These two were solved, but now my web browser will not open. I have connection, the text messenger will load and run, it will say "starting internet" and then quit.

I'm very new to ubuntu and completely lost on what to look for.

Thanks

Do you mean that you cannot open Firefox?

Open a terminal and type in: sudo nautilus
followed by Enter.

In the left-hand column of the screen, click on "File system". Next click on "Home" and then your Home name. When your personal Home directory is open, press Ctrl+h to show all hidden files. Locate the file called .mozilla. Right click on that file and select "Rename". You can change it to .mozillaA (for example). Close the screens, exit the terminal (Ctrl+d) and try Firefox again.

Firefox will create a new .mozilla file.
Renaming the file is a simple method for keeping it in case you need it again.

Hi, yes, I could not open Firefox, your suggestion worked, THANK YOU a BUNCH. I received a couple errors in the process. One upon rebooting was a critical error, it went by too fast for me to copy here. I rebooted again and it didn't show up.

Regards

Jill :)

Well done Jill.

If you wish, although not essential, you can now delete the renamed file via "sudo nautilus".

I think for now I'll leave it be. :) At one point, watching the screen "melt like plastic" was almost more than I could handle LOL

Thank you Andre.
