Sound stopped working on TP R52 with FFawn

Installed FFawn on my Thinkpad R52 and everthing went well.
On installation, sound card was recognized and sound was working fine.
A couple of restarts later, the sound is not working anymore.

Card is recognized and audio players play as though nothing is wrong.
Tried all the different alsamixer knobs and nothing worked.

Can someone help.....?

Events that might have caused it: hibernate/suspend, (but rebooting is not solving the issue)
                                                  totem installed a couple of plugins to play divX.
