Have you enabled it in ccsm? Have you assigned the initiate button so yu can turn it off and on? Is compiz running?

I think you have to hold the key-combo to do the drag mouse through water, I seem to remember the rain effect is enabled by super + f6

This is about as far as I can advise with compiz as I don't use it (I think it is COMPLETELY worthless)

Revise your key assignments or try setting it to something else to see if it flys, watch you don't duplicate keys as you will be warned that you have assigned 2 shortcut keys to the same thing

Also, make sure you dont assign a shortcut combo that is a shortcut in your DE (KDE or gnome). for example do not assign it to ctrl+v as this is copy (as an example)

Thats all i got.

I have the same problem, and kind of an answer. Rain, wiper, and title wave work by default, but manually drawing water trails with the mouse does not. You have to assign a new key combination. It seems that key combinations using only modifiers (control, shift, super, alt) don't work. Use one with a letter and it works.

My system is:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
2 GB Memory
GeForce 8500 GT

Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop amd64
Linux 2.6.28-11-generic

Yes, your solution worked for me too guywithcable. I just switched it to <Super> 'w' and I'm back in business!

<slaps head>I can't believe that I never tried a letter value combo (as I tried many modifier combos and none of them worked so I just gave up.) I know that it's petty, but it's one of my fave effects and it was driving me crazy in my otherwise flawless Jaunty experience. I'm surprised that this is still an issue as of July 23, '09 since it was widely reported right away. I'd think it would be a simple fix, but I don't know. Works for me now anyways.

Thanks a million guywithcable
