Toshiba Portege A600-122 Build-in 3G not working

Asked by Rich Bishop

Hey,

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I installed Xubuntu 9.04 today on my brand new (arrived today) Toshiba Portege A600-122.

Everything has worked a dream, except for the build-in 3G card not working. The card is detected by NetworkManager, and is showing as 'Toshiba F3507g', I go through the connect wizard it gives me, select UK/Vodafone (Contract) and then it tried to connect.

No feedback, just fails.

Any ideas from anyone? Once I get this working I get remove Window$ from my machine altogether, but as it stands, only Vista can connect to Vodafone through my SIM Card :-(

Thanks guys!

Rich

Keeping a working indows as part of a dual-boot is what most of us do anyway. It's not only good for the migration time but sometimes it's good to go back to Windows for some stupid thing or other. Also now you're using linux people will expect help with their Windows more from you.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Tom,

Thank you for your reply.

That doesn't actually say anything about the problem I'm having though.

Thanks,

Rich

Hi :)

Have you been able to test the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta1
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
