I am not able to connect to any open wifi network why?

Asked by pradyumn patil on 2019-08-28

Recently, me and my friend have dual booted our laptops. we both can connect to open wifi network in windows but when it comes to Ubuntu, he can connect to wifi but i can't. Can anyone tell me why it is happening? Is there something to do with laptop model? my laptop is HP 15 ac123tx. I have tried every possible way I could but had nothing. Although there is no problem with a private network created by my mobile hotspot with wpa2 security. But if i make that too open, the ubuntu cannot connect to it.

Use a wired connection to get full updates. This may also help.
