ttf-mscorefonts-installer - is producing an MS window to appear in Terminal, when running sudo....upgrade.

Asked by sparrowds

I recently ran "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras", so "sudo apt-get upgrade" now results in many more updates available, last on the list is "ttf-mscorefonts-installer". Unfortunately running this produces a "Windows"type text-window within my terminal which blocks any further use of the terminal to continue my update procedure. There is now no cursor at the bottom of the screen, and clicking {OK} or pressing Enter at the foot of this document does not make it go away. Closing terminal now requires permission as a process does not want to close!

Is there a way to run "sudo apt-get upgrade" again to upgrade legitimate programs and eliminate this Microsoft intruder from my listing of upgrades? It's not as if I need more fonts!!
As the same list of available upgrades is appearing (over the last couple of days, I suspect this "virus" is preventing the others from installing which is not optimum.

I have tried "man upgrade" but there are no entries -
I was hoping for something along the lines of:-
"sudo apt-get upgrade" minus "ttf-mscorefonts-installer"

Failing this - is there a way of reversing "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras" so that I may upgrade as I used to?

Thank you

Using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on 2019 desktop computer - updated daily.

You have to use the tab / backtab / up / down / left / right / space keys to navigate through this window until <OK> is highlighted and then press the enter key.

Thanks, but I did use these keys. To no avail. As I say, this window blocked further use of terminal (apart from some menu options). Neither the mouse nor Enter key had any affect on the (OK) at the end of the window document.
I use the up arrow key to recall the update / upgrade instructions from the day before. Very useful.

The mouse does not work in that mode.
You have to use the keyboard and highlight the <OK> text. Then press the Enter key.

Use TAB and ENTER when asked

In trying to solve this and regain control of Terminal, I tried a couple of options from the menu, including resizing the Terminal window. As a result, today when I logged in and run upgrades, the Windows font "window" opened in such a way that I was able to see the full document.
I was able to TAB then ENTER (Thank you "Andrew Woodhead666") and surprisingly the upgrade then proceeded.
Having come out of Terminal there was an error message saying that "ttf-mscorefonts-installer" failed to install! There was the option to "try again" but this did not result in a positive outcome so I gave up.

Update:-
Just opened Terminal and run update and upgrade and there are no upgrades waiting to be installed - hopefully back to normal?
I don't know if "ttf-mscorefonts-installer" was installed, but frankly I don't care...

Thanks to all who tried to assist me in this hiccup.
