can not change resolution from 800*600

install 7.4 the best resolution i can get from monitor is 800*600 i am running AMD 950 WITH A 17 flat screen DAEWOOD monitor I am new with LINUX and dont know to much !!!! HELP

Can you paste here your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files?
You can open them with these commands from a terminal (to open a terminal Menu->Accessories->Terminal):

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
sudo gedit /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Don't save the files before closing them.

It is normal.
There isn't any asterisks when you type your password with sudo.
Just type your password and type enter.
