Dual boot-arrow keys do not work and cannot access windows

Asked by Phil Heaney

I have just installed Ubuntu on a dual boot system with Windows XP. When given the option to choose which system I wish to access I am unable to pick which I want. Effectively my arrow keys do not work although they are not a problem otherwise.

What kind of a keyboard are you using? Usb? wireless?

there should be several solutions for this problem. the easiest and fastest I can thing of right now is to try to install grub again (either reinstall ubuntu, or do it manually from the livecd), or try to install this program http://www.ghacks.net/2008/09/20/windows-boot-manager/

Thank you. I use a Logitech Wave USB keyboard. I'll try the reinstallation suggestion

If you want to try the Windows bootloader, incase it recognises your keyboard (i doubt so but well), I suggest you use EasyBCD for setting it up, it'll help you to boot Ubuntu from it. Also, you'll need a grub install at the root of your Ubuntu partition.

Do you have to press the "Num lock" key to get the little Led light on the keyboard?

Can you help with this problem?
