is ubuntu 9.04 likeley to be less stable than 8.10?

Asked by Lawrence

I have heard people say that the first editions of a new operating system are often less stable, is this the case with Ubuntu? In other words, is it a better bet to download Ubuntu 8.10 and await 9.10 or should 9.04 be stable?

It is ready for release download it if you want. Its out in 1 day. It would be easier to download it now because the servers will be under a lot of pressure on release day.

Hope that helps

Hi Lawrence,

I think, it is depend on your hardware. If you have new hardware, I think the new release ubuntu will help you with it. I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 until now. Because, almost all my hardware worked like a charm. Cheers...
