I need to delete Windows. Grub is not working due to Windows wanting to take over. Can't access the Beaver.

Asked by Kevin L. Thomas

I have Bionic Beaver installed. But, what I really should have done is copied over Windows altogether. Partitioned instead.

What happens right now is that Grub may flash for a second, but Windows Boot Loader takes over. I've tried resetting all of the start up options, disable default settings, and force Windows to stop, but nothing seems to work.

I ran the Bionic Beaver flawlessly until one night I really needed to get on Windows to access a Bagpipe player. After that night I have not been able to start up from Grub.

Have tried sudo apt - get grub and a bunch of other fixes.

I am not a programmer. I just love the Beaver. Well, Ubuntu. And, what I really love is being free from Windows.

The problem is. Right now Windows wants to do sneaky stuff like update without my permission. Attaching updates to start-up without my permission. etc. Then other sneaky little windows prompts hovering right around my password/login. Not cool.

So, I have some important work that I need back. I need to get back into my Beaver.

Then I'd really like to give Windows the Boot.
