Cannot play YouTube videos after Ubuntu 18.04 upgrade

Hello,
I am not able to play videos after an upgrade to 18.04 in Ubuntu. This seems to be true across the board since i tried for YouTube, ZDNet and CNN. I had the same results on both Firefox and Chrome. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

This appears to be true for both HTML5 and flash videos.

Everything worked fine with 16.04

What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | egrep 'flash|gnash|swf|spark'

I dont see an option to switch to Guest but i did have another ID which i switched to and that works fine, so i guess the problem is with the ID that i normally use, and with which i did the upgrade.

OK. Close Firefox and run:

mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla_old

Then launch the browser. Does it work OK? Your old profile still exists as the command above renames it. When you launch the browser you will get a vanilla profile.

Bah, OK, reverse the mv command and your profile will restore. Or keep the new one.... Your choice

I resolved this finally by upgrading to 18.10
