Asus Vivo Book Pro N80GD 19.04 not work

Asked by Vittorio

Hi there,

I found many problem to install or update to a newer version 19.04.
Let me explain.
Before all that is my hardware:
Intel® Core™ i7 8750H Processor,
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 , with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM

Actually I was working with the 18.10, and it was so strange that my battery with intel profile (and not under Nvidia graphics) last less then one hours.
After that i decided to perform the update passing to the latest 19.0 and new kernel (supposing to solve some problem with latest kernel for better support on hardware ecc)
Fortunately i used clonezilla to perform an image backup of my disc.

Now:
Approach 1
Tried the update from ubuntu 18.10 with the update manager.
All the process going well until it tried to compile the kernel 5.0. The console show some compiling operation on kernel 5.0 but al the system is blocked jammed. I am not able to do anything. I tried to terminate also the upgrading process one times... without result. Unique solution reboot hoping some miracle.
After reboot then apper the login, any time i tried to login the system rebbot on login mode... no way to show the desktop.
So i tried to use recovery ecc ecc and nothing... no solution the login problem still persists.

Approach 2
So after image restore i tried to upgrade system from usb bootable image, selecting the installation process.
That situation is worse then the first one.
In any condition after some minute the screen of the installation software is completely blocked, no chance to move mouse nothing from keyboard... totally freezed.

Approach Number 3

I installed 19.4 on an external hd from with another computer (acer with i5) and i tried to boot it on vivo book pro. Pre isntalled version works perfectly on vivo book.

Test case number 4
I tried to install the latest Deepin version and the beta. Both that version not work.
The old Deepin and ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10 works great. The difference that Ubuntu 18.* eat the battery on less then one hour.

Windows 10 works perfectly but i don't want to work with Windows... And i don't need to explain here why luckily

best regards

Hope in your help
