cannot install ubuntu 18 as dual boot with windows 10

Asked by M Lawless

I cannot install Ubuntu 18.10 as a dual boot with Windows 10 Home on a 64 bit machine. It seems to go thru the motion of a complete install but when I reboot it does a normal boot to Windows. I have tried it twice but nothing changes. I am attempting to install Ubuntu on an HP Touchsmart 310 PC with 4GB RAM, 580 GB HDD (417 GB free). Can you help?

You may have to go into BIOS settings/system configuration/os boot menu and put ubuntu at the top of the list press F10 twice and see if grub appears

Thanks for the information. I tried what you suggested but it still didn't work. I went ahead and just installed Ubuntu as the OS since I had another Win 10 PC. It works great. Thanks again.
