TROUBLE CONNECTING RGB WIRE TO TV NO SINGNAL

i just downloaded ubuntu18.04 on my computer. By mistake i erased all my windows seven on hard disk or misplaced somewhere and cannot find it,but that is not the problem. the problem is that when i try to connect my pc via rgb the screen that is on my pc appeaers on my smart tv. just the screen no apps nothing works on keyboard or tv then i reboot my pc i have dead battery so i power it straight trough the plug , so when i boot the screen says the battery is not recharging but i been getting that since three years ago and still everything worked fine on pc . i get that, then orange screen for ubuntu then it goes straight to my pc screen with picture on screen but then just picture but nothing inputs to tv when all is workin fine on pc

What we need to know is:-

How old is your PC (tower) or Laptop? I assume that it is a Laptop as your battery is not charging. make and model would help.

What outputs are there on your Laptop. eg HDMI, DVI etc ?

What inputs do you have on your smart TV ? Make Model would help.

I have used Ubuntu since 2009 and now on 18.04LTS.

Did try window dual boot for many years but gave up with windows in exasperation, irritation, and annoyance.

Linux is much faster only take a short time to do updates and rarely crashes.

retried Engineer TV.
