Unable to acquire bus name 'org.gnome.Software'

Asked by Gabriel Kaufmann

I got this after a while after fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04 (LTS) with Unity-Desktop. Gnome is installed also.

The error occurs while trying to open "Software and Updates" from Menu. The Menu-Entry "Additional Drivers" also doesn't start.

$> gnome-software --gapplication-service
Unable to acquire bus name 'org.gnome.Software'

I already tried to ask on german ubuntu-forum and tried reinstalling unity/gnome packages without able to fix it.

If you run:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

To make sure you are fully updated. Does this help?
