Why are multiple versions of gnome preinstalled??
Asked by

Hi, I am using Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver, freshly installed on a new Galaga Pro. I noticed in the Ubuntu Software center that two different versions of the GNOME runtime are preinstalled: GNOME 3.26 runtime and GNOME 3.28 runtime. I have two major questions about this environment configuration:
A) Is it safe to remove one or the other of these, without breaking my basic Ubuntu GNOME setup?
B) Why were multiple versions of GNOME runtime installed in the first place?
