18.04.2 LTS Install hangs on macbook air

Asked by Rich

18.04.2 LTS install hangs on macbook air.

Hi, i have made a bootable USB stick using this process: https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-macos#0

I'm able to start the installation of ubuntu on the macbook. It gets as far as displaying the Ubuntu logo and then having 5 red dots below.... then it does nothing. I've let it go for more than two hours, to no avail.

I also tried to do the same install but using Grub. Same thing happens... successfully start the install, but it never completes.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how get the system to show the progress, rather than the splash screen.

Any ideas to help me out? Thanks
