Discover sofware centre does no work at all

Asked by Etrinsio Gozo

I have just installed Lubuntu 18.1. I have a few issues with it but the one I think will be difficult to live with is that the new Software Centre, Discover, simply does not work. It takes ages to start and then to do anything, even when I am running the system from a SSD. To me this is a deal breaker. Anything that can be done about it? Is there any alternative?

Warning, change to Lubunty 18.1 to your own peril. It is not better. I might be changing back to 18.0

There is neither something named Lubuntu 18.1 nor Lubuntu 18.0
I assume that you are talking about Lubuntu 18.10 and 18.04

As alternative to the Discover software centre you can do package installation and deinstallation via the command line.

Thanks. I presume that would also mean that I would need to add that software to the repository file in my system so it will update regularly. I hope you can get what I am talkinh about.

Maybe I could also download the packages with a different computer that runs a 18.04 and transfer the packages.

Probably the simplest thing is replace it by 18.04. After all that works well in my other H.D.

Can you help with this problem?
