installing ati drivers issue

i have tried to install the ati drivers for linux but this is what happens
when i tried to install sudo it said enter your password and every letter key i pressed didnt work
this is to do with ubuntu version 9.04

Created directory fglrx-install.NoEPNc
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

It actually recognizes the password, you just don't see any feedback.
The output you posted above states success.

Did you actually type the password you login with?
Doesn't 'sudo' work on other applications also, e.g.
sudo apt-get update

If this isn't the case, please check if you appear at least in admin group:
groups your_username

##Output example:
adm dialout fax cdrom floppy tape audio dip video plugdev lpadmin scanner admin

In case you need to add your username to admin group. You can do this in recovery mode where you can drop to a root shell:
adduser your_username admin
exit
