How to remedy Ubuntu freezing on Desktop I just built

Asked by Denver Stair

Motherboard --> Asus Maximus X hero wifi
Graphics card --> EVGA nvidia GTX 1070
Processor --> Intel 8086 Coffeelake
Memory -->HyperX DDR4 3466 32GB
PS --> 850W
SSD --> Samsung 970 EVO M2 nvme

I have been trying for days to get Ubuntu 18.04.2 installed on my rig, but the system keeps freezing. I was finally able to get the OS installed last night after pressing e at the grub menu then deleting "quiet splash" on the line that starts with linux

I was able to ssh in and install the nvidia driver, at least it appeared to be successful, then it froze. I shut down and restarted and in Grub this time I added nouveau.modeset=0 after "quiet splash" and it runs for a few minutes then freezes still. And it continues to freeze every time I turn the computer on. runs for a few minutes then freezes. I also have to enter nouveau.modeset=0 after "quiet splash" every time I start the computer. Who do I need to contact or what website do I need to go to, to get help to fix the OS so it quits freezing every damn time I start it?
