Thunar: ssh/sftp fails with "Failed to open File System"

Asked by ^rooker

When I try to open a local-loopback SSH tunnel for sFTP to my servers in Thunar, I get the following error message (after the login):

> Failed to open "File System".
> Connection failed.

Connecting to sFTP on my servers that don't require SSH tunneling, works fine though.
The only difference is that it fails for local loopbacks.

I only found this thread with the same error message, but the exo-open wrapper script workaround doesn't work in my case:

Does anyone have the same problem?
Any hints on how to fix this?

Very grateful in advance :)

Do other file managers work OK?

Good question. I only have installed Thunar.

But I can reproduce the error with the following command:
$ exo-open ssh://localhost:10001/

Where port "10001" on localhost is a local port forward to SSH/sFTP over SSH.

Install something like pcmanfm2 and try that

If the error seems to happen with "exo-open", therefore already below the file manager, I don't understand why trying a different filemanager would help?

Can you help with this problem?
