Installing software without internet

Asked by kewlmart

Hello, would like to know if there is anyway for me to save repositories on cd for future installs. I.E. I want to install ubuntu on my friends computer but don't want to use all my bandwith with software installs (like restricted software, openoffice, vlc, adobe PDF reader, etc...) Anyway i can download them to a cd and then install them after the ubuntu cd install.

Thank You

Martin

Open office and a pdf reader are installed by default.
There is no easy way to install software without an internet connection.
It wont use all your bandwidth. It souldnt take much longer than a few minutes for most downloads.

Hope this helps

Hi Kewlmart,

If you're already installed them on your computer, you need APTonCD packages. Here's the documentation from community about it.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/APTonCD

And here's the article how to install packages without internet connection:
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/add-applications/C/offline.html

Hopefully those article will help you. Good luck..
