sound skipping when playing videos on firefox with Ubuntu 18.10

Asked by Andrew Crome

This is my problem I was watching a video on firefox with Ubuntu 18.10., when the sound seemed to 'hiccup" for want of a better word. This happens all the time but no particular order. I'll be listening and watch a video when suddenly the sound hiccups the video itself seems ok just the sound its as if a record is playing when it is knocked and repeats a section.

I have no idea what this is and its very frustrating as there seems to be no pattern

Can any one help ?

Thank you

Try other browsers. See if it affects them.

Are you using the Unity session?

If so, if you install the xfce4 package, log off and log in to the XFCE session, is it OK there?

Sorry I'm a little rusty with ubuntu so no idea what that means the sound jumps at different times
