aes-x86_64 module missing from amd64

Asked by na5m

ubuntu-9.04-rc-alternate-amd64.iso

during installation, i switch to a command console and:
# modprobe dm-crypt
# modprobe aes-x86_64
FATAL: Module aes_x86_64 not found.

Why isn't this 64-bit module included with this amd64 iso?

I want to use the aes-xts-plain cipher & therefore need aes-x86_64.
how can i get this module whilst in the installer?

This is implemented via kernel, and currently a non-supported kernel.

You could try building your own kernel with this functionality if it's important to you or await for the kernel to support it in the natural way.

According to the Debian bugs list, they have recently checked and confirmed this working in the latest testing kernel. That should make it's way into the next ubuntu distro. I would doubt it would make it into jaunty at this time, but I cannot say for sure.

Can you help with this problem?
