System did not start: GNU GRUB version 2.02~beta2-9

Asked by ealthuis

When after correct shutdown last night I started my system this morning and that message showed with the following explanation:

Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

I have shut the power off, the turned it on and restarted the system same result, the GNU GRUB message.

This system is badly needed, how do I get it started?

RED HERRING...

A thumb drive was left installed and the BIOS set that to the first boot. No operating system on it hence the message. I changed the boot sequence to SSD first, cd drive next and I removed the thumb drive and the system started normally.
