getting an HP printer to work with my laptop

when i click on connect for the printer i get up run/cups/cup.sock/ and cannot get beyond this and just go round in circles. I now have a new wireless printer (HP deskjet 2622) and this works with my smartphone and my husbands smartphone and his laptop which is microsoft?

Have you installed HPLIP?
You gave information about printer. Need information about computer, brand, model, etc.

Your printer is fully supported in linux by HPLIP even in networked mode as you have it. If you go to the HP support site, it will give you a link to get to the linux driver (HPLIP). There is a button to download the driver and you'll find instructions available to get it set up to work the way you want it. I have used HP printers for quite a while now, they are some of the best for Linux support. If you need any other assistance we can offer advice here, but try this and see if it helps you out.
