You need to select the 'Install Ubuntu' option so it starts the installer and not the desktop.

Hi,

Which install method did you choose? The default?

Also, you wont be able to access the "C:\" in the way that you are used to, as Linux doesn't use "C:\" "D:\" etc

Sorry to hear things are not working for you yet.

Could you please restart, both Windows and Ubuntu may be on your boot prompt. Load Ubuntu and type in "startx" from the command prompt, it should look something like "ubuntu@ubuntu$"

I don't recognise the command "mcd c:". If you mean "cd c:", this wont work if you've booted Linux because there is no C:\ drive. You could try "cd /media/[name of your windows]

Hi, I get the ubuntu@ubuntu$ by default. I think I found the problem. On BIOS settings SATA driver was AHCI mode, changing that to Combatibility mode helped. Now I am installing Ubuntu, let's see how far I get. Obviously Ubuntu won't recognize AHCI ?

Previously were you getting to a working desktop that had an "installer" icon in the top-left-hand corner? If you were getting to that desktop then that's what we call a LiveCd session. It's a good way to try out a linux distro before committing to installing it so most of them (Fedora, Wolvix, Ubuntu and so on) offer it. Also it can be useful for showing off to friends on their machines or for using to fix things. Also if you couldn't get to a working desktop from the Cd then you'd probably want to find out how to make sure you could get it working properly if you installed it or just try another distro until you found something you liked that works :)

Good luck and regards from
