mouse speed is to slow on 18

I just updated to 18 :( so will do them one at a time.

Mouse is to slow on 16 I had the mouse start up set at, xset m 3/1 0 this is no longer working and now I'm moving across 1/2 my desk to get to the other side of the screen.
how do i change it and keep that change on start up?

ok I found instruction on using
xinput --list --short

But I do not know what the number limits are or what is the fastest or slowest you can go. After picking a bunch of numbers that did nothing I typed 1 and that changes it. Strange??
So what is 1?? how do I go faster than 1?
What is the scale for this? Other than guessing because it's not 1 to 10

As I thought after a restart setting is lost.
so I will also need to know how to keep the setting permeant.

I got it to work but still have no clue on what are the speed setting for it are. 1 is still to slow.
