Xserver failed to start

Asked by demagogue

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 6.06 off the LiveCD, but when it starts up, I get an "X-server failed to start" error. In the log it says: (EE) No Devices Detected and Fatal Server Error No screens found. I ran sud dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and set the video driver to VESA, then tried to run X-Session-Manager. I then got a GTK-WARNING: Cannot Open Display.
