External monitor HDMI not recognized

Asked by reinhard zufall

I am using a HP ZBook 15, which has Intel-UHD630 integrated graphics as well as a NVidia Quadro-P600 dedicated card. Whenever I want to use an external monitor pluged in via HDMI, the external monitor is not recognized. `xrandr` says it is disconnected, which is incorrect. What can I do to solve this?

$ uname -a
Linux laptop 4.18.0-12-generic #13-Ubuntu SMP Wed Nov 14 15:17:05 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 18.10
Release: 18.10
Codename: cosmic

Has anyone a solution for this?
Thanks.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable just to check that.

Tried 2 different cables. None was working with Ubuntu , but both with Windows. So I guess it can't be the cable .... Could it be the driver?

Tried 3 different cables. So it's not the cable.
