You should only need to drag the archieve file of the theme of your choice and drag it onto the window of appearance preferences. Note that this only work with certain themes, such as gtk, icons and others that i might have missed. Other things such as usplash and screensavers require other methods to install.

^^ it looks quite simple if dragging n dropping is only needed, can u link me to some of these kinds of themes, or which u hav tried already......!!!

pr.itdude, see the link above, and grab the GTK+ themes and Metacity themes.

You can also download themes in Apps->Add/Remove

For instance, the package "community-themes" contains a few great themes, designed for Intrepid.

i got some answers............i installed a theme but it only changed the borders ..........everything remains same as it was............no change of icons...........
