1. To correct the "404" error when upgrading you have to edit your package management configuration file with a text editor of your choice using admin rights, e.g. by issuing the command
sudo gedit /etc/apt/
Change the lines
deb http://
# deb-src http://
into
deb http://
# deb-src http://
(modifying "orh" -> "org" and "artful" -> "bionic")
save the file and close the editor.
2. For the upgrade problem, what is the output of the commands

1. My suspicion is that the release-updater has got a problem with the xserver-
Maybe the upgrade works, when you uninstall the xserver-
2, For the "configured multiple times" messages, what is the output of the command
cat -n /etc/apt/
(it seems that the change done previously has helped for one type of warnings, but has now created a different warning)

1. For the "duplicates":
sudo gedit /etc/apt/
scroll down to the end and delete the last four lines, such that the file ends with
deb https:/
deb-src https:/
2. For the release upgrade:
Try the command
sudo apt-get remove xserver-
and re-try the upgrade with the command
sudo do-release-upgrade.
If it fails again, please provide the output of the commands
cat /var/log/
tail -n 50 /var/log/
