Linux on AMD 64bit laptop: any advise?

Asked by Uqbar

I'd like to buy a new laptop and would like to get a 64bit AMD CPU.
In the past AMD CPUs in laptops used to stay very hot and drain the battery fast.
I hope this is not the case anymore but I'd like to know more from experts.

Well I am not a laptop 'expert'. AMD machines can get hot, but so can intel, it all depends on the way the laptop is built and designed.

The best advise I can give you is DONT GO BIG. These new big laptops suck, too big and heavy. Too big screen that stretches neck... Get a small one with a good screen, thats my advise
