Software updater shows no details or descriptions, blank page.

Asked by Deborah L. Henry

I've been receiving software update notifications that show no description or details about the update, just a blank page. It just shows 69.7 mb will be downloaded. I have no idea what is to be updated. I have a screenshot if needed.

I eventually updated with Synaptic Package Manager.  It had the same
volume of updates & listed everything. My software updater now shows up
to date.  I believe this was a bug in the software updater.  I'm
including a screenshot.  I will report again if the same thing happens
on the next update.

Replying to the automated email and attaching a file doesn't work.

Can you please give the output of the two commands I gave.

Thanks

This, of course, is after I updates with Synaptic.

OK then run:

sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

That will clear out the unnecessary packages.

Is it OK now?

I won't know till new updates are available.  As it stands everything is
up to date.

This seems to be a common problem, probably it is the issue which has already been reported as bug #1766217

Software updater shows list of updates, but no changes or descriptions in the bottom panel. Update successful.
