Thunderbolt not detected in GNOME settings

Asked by Klint Qinami on 2018-10-03

I am running Ubuntu 18.10 on a Dell XPS 13 9350. I have a TB16 Thunderbolt 3 dock.

Previously, I was able to connect a monitor to the dock, and the dock to my computer. I was able to use the GNOME settings for devices and the dock was detected, and I was able to connect to the monitor through the dock.

At some point I accidentally clicked 'forget this device' on the GNOME settings for the dock, and now whenever I connect the dock to my computer, it is not recognized and the settings interface shows no devices.

However, running lspci shows the device,

01:00.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL6340 Thunderbolt 3 Bridge [Alpine Ridge 2C 2015]
02:00.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL6340 Thunderbolt 3 Bridge [Alpine Ridge 2C 2015]
02:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL6340 Thunderbolt 3 Bridge [Alpine Ridge 2C 2015]
02:02.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL6340 Thunderbolt 3 Bridge [Alpine Ridge 2C 2015]
03:00.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation DSL6340 Thunderbolt 3 NHI [Alpine Ridge 2C 2015]
39:00.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation DSL6340 USB 3.1 Controller [Alpine Ridge]

Additionally, all of the thunderbolt settings in the BIOS menu are enabled, and set to require no security.

How do I reconnect the dock?

Updating to 18.10 from 18.04.1 did not fix the issue.
