Cannot upgrade 12.10

I tried to upgrade my Ubuntu 12.10 to 15.04 and it did not go

Michael Troy; Hello -

A lot has changed in ubuntu since 12.10.
However, if you want to try to release-upgrade the path is 12.10 to 14.04 to 16.04 -
14.04 is still supported but ends next April.

the instructions for the upgrade are pretty exact and are to be followed exactly.
